About

My approach is to learn about you as an individual and understand your story and personality as unique to you. Through our work together, you may come to better understand your motivations for behaviors or patterns you wish to change and for choices you would like to repeat. While the focus of treatment is often on current stressors or issues, it can be an important part of the therapeutic process to understand the impact of the past on patterns of thought and behavior. It can be difficult to tolerate the process of exploring your past or changing your present. We will partner to develop creative ways to effect the changes you wish to see in your self and in your life. We will build upon your inner strengths and external supports to increase your feelings of connectivity, satisfaction, and self-acceptance. I have more than fifteen years post-graduate experience providing therapy to individuals, couples, and families, and over twenty years of overall experience in a variety of social work settings including community mental health clinics, psychiatric hospitals, and non-profit organizations. My graduate training was completed at State University of New York at Brockport and GRC Program, with additional clinical training at University at Buffalo School of Social Work. I am a long-time member of the National Association of Social Workers and regularly participate in trainings and workshops with the NASW, the Institute for Psychoanalytic Education, NYU, and the Center for Modern Psychoanalytic Studies to continually expand my professional development. Most significantly, each client has informed the range of my work and my capacity to meet you where you are as we begin our work together.
